NC Floods, CA Drought, and The Role of Randomness
Posted On: October 24, 2024
There seems to be some misunderstanding about 100-year events. These almost always apply to a specific location. So, you could have 100-year events every year in the U.S., and as long they are in different locations, there is nothing unusual about it. A 100-year flood in western North Carolina this year could be followed by a 100-year flood in eastern North Carolina next year. That doesn’t mean 100-year floods are getting more frequent.Re Posted From: NC Floods, CA Drought, and The Role of RandomnessWatts Up With That . . . [

BBC Claim Hurricanes Are Getting Stronger–IPCC Says They Are Not!
Posted On: October 23, 2024
The apparent increase in major Atlantic hurricanes since 1920 is due to the fact that we now have satellites to observe them in mid-ocean. This is why there is a step change in the 1990s.
A glance at US landfalling hurricanes shows there is clearly no long term increase in the strongest hurricanes:Re Posted From: BBC Claim Hurricanes Are Getting StrongerIPCC Says They Are Not!Watts Up With That . . . [

Energy Justice in Africa? Energy Exceptionalism Please
Posted On: October 23, 2024
The ideological environmental movement imposes the views of mostly wealthy, comfortable Americans and Europeans on mostly poor, desperate Africans, Asians and Latin Americans. It violates these people’s most basic human rights, denying them economic opportunities, the chance for better lives, the right to rid their countries of diseases that were vanquished long ago in Europe and the United States.Re Posted From: Energy Justice in Africa? Round and round we go.Re Posted From: Is Paleoclimate Cyclic? It’s a Mystery to MeWatts Up With That . . . [
