California: Rise and Fall
Posted On: February 24, 2025
The coastal portion of the state of California is generally subsiding at a rate of 1 to 4 millimeters per year. At the same time, it is generally understood that absolute sea level, often called “global sea level”, is rising at about 2 to 3 mm/yr [when using global tide gauges for the calculation]. In effect then, Relative Sea Level Rise along much of the coast of California can be said to be ‘doubled’ by subsidence. Re Posted From: California: Rise and FallWatts Up With That . . . [

Wrong, The Guardian, There Are No Identifiable “Climate Tipping Points”
Posted On: February 24, 2025
The main theme for all of Earth’s history has been change, continuously. Some of those changes, like transitions into ice ages, are large scale and harmful to life. The modest warming of the past century-plus is not in that category. Sadly, it is pretty unlikely that funding for climate alarm studies will result in anything other than more alarmist projections spun out of flawed computer models. However, if we are very lucky, data collected over the next decades will help to assuage the fears of researchers and The Guardian’s reporters, as . . . [

Trump’s Juggernaut Smashes the BBC’s Climate Crystal Ball
Posted On: February 24, 2025
Six weeks ago, the BBC thought 2025 was set for climate crusaders—lawsuits flexing muscle, summits preaching unity, NGOs amplifying the panic. They didn’t see Trump’s juggernaut coming, least of all his aim at the NGO cash cow. From Paris to AR7, from USAID to COP 30, he’s not just slowing the train—he’s dynamiting the tracks and torching the wreckage. Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Pause
Posted On: February 23, 2025
When your friends think you wrong and your opponents are saying nice things, a reevaluation of your position might be in order. Did it. It was still correct for the Thomas Jefferson Institute for Public Policy to put Virginia’s energy ratepayers first and express concern for the financial harm they might suffer if a wind turbine project gets cancelled. Why do Atmospheric Rivers Occur?
Posted On: February 23, 2025
Meteorologists favorite diagnostic for atmospheric rivers is integrated water vapor transport (IVT), which is the amount of water vapor times the wind speed, summed up in the vertical (that is where the integrated comes from). This quantity is more closely related to the potential for regional rainfall.Re Posted From: Why do Atmospheric Rivers Occur?Watts Up With That . . . [

What Really Sets The Global Climate State?
Posted On: February 23, 2025
What really does set the global climate state? The Million Year Ice Core Project (MYIC) (Follow on BlueSky), has been underway for several years, preparing to drill the oldest continuous ice core record from Antarctica. The project is a major element in the Australian Antarctic Program, led by the Australian Antarctic Division and other national and international collaborators to answer that very question.Re Posted From: What Really Sets The Global Climate State?Watts Up With That . . . Posted On: February 23, 2025
As mentioned above, this study confirms what Climate Realism and Climate at a Glance have long reported: data conclusively proves wildfires are on the decline, both in the United States and globally, contrary to mainstream media lies.Re Posted From: Climate Change Weekly # 535 — Paris Climate Treaty Is Going DownWatts Up With That . . .
