Relative importance of carbon dioxide and water in the greenhouse effect: Does the tail wag the dog?
Posted On: November 7, 2024
Through his analysis, Koutsoyiannis calls for a reorientation of climate research, urging the scientific community to afford greater attention to hydrology and to reconsider CO₂’s central role in climate models. He concludes that the understanding of Earth’s climate may be limited by the current emphasis on CO₂ emissions, which he argues overlooks the nuanced and regionally specific effects of water vapor.Re Posted From: Relative importance of carbon dioxide and water in the greenhouse effect: Does the tail wag the dog?Watts Up With Tha . . . Trump Wins U.S. presidency! Net Zero, UN Climate Pacts, Green New Deal & Inflation Reduction Act Fac

“With Donald Trump winning the US presidential election, the United Nations COP29 will turn into a giant wake, with the United Nations facing defeat of their anti-human climate agenda. The entire climate agenda is facing utter and complete collapse due to its unrealistic mandates and targets. Failure across the board is occurring, from emission targets to anemic electric vehicle sales to pushback by farmers fighting back against agricultural climate restrictions. The Dunkelflaute Disaster: What Happens When Wind Power Goes Silent
Posted On: November 7, 2024
The truth here is painfully simple. Europe’s renewable dream relies on natural gas, coal, and nuclear. Without these, the entire system is a non-starter. Dunkelflaute is just the latest chapter in a long saga showing that renewables, as they stand today, cannot sustain a modern grid. And while the green lobby loves to demonize fossil fuels, they remain essential, especially when the wind stops.Re Posted From: The Dunkelflaute Disaster: What Happens When Wind Power Goes SilentWatts Up With That . . . Gas Power Will Remain Crucial

So it is quite wrong to imply, which NESO seem to, that gas will only make a small contribution.
On the contrary, it is absolutely fundamental to the grid.Re Posted From: Gas Power Will Remain CrucialWatts Up With That . . . [

Trump’s Victory and Climate Policy
Posted On: November 6, 2024
This election, though not explicitly about climate, may go down as a turning point for climate policy itself. Voters signaled that they won’t accept environmental goals at any cost, especially when that cost is borne by the average household. It’s a call for a shift from alarmist narratives to a practical, results-driven approach that respects both the environment and the economy.Re Posted From: Trump’s Victory and Climate PolicyWatts Up With That . . . AI Knows It is Biased on Climate Change
Posted On: November 6, 2024
Okay it is chatbots that know they are biased, not all of AI. But these days the headlines are all about “AI” and they really just mean these chatbots that emulate reading to an amazing degree, so I go with the flow. Nor do these chatters know anything as they are just computers emulating humans but it is far easier to talk as if they knew what they were doing.Re Posted From: AI Knows It is Biased on Climate ChangeWatts Up With That . . . Urban Legends of Climate Change: Palm Springs, California
Posted On: November 6, 2024
This is the first of what will likely be a series of posts regarding urban heat island (UHI) effects in daily record high temperatures. My previous UHI work has been using the GHCN monthly average station data of “Tavg” (the average of the daily maximum [Tmax] and minimum [Tmin] temperatures). So, I’m moving from Tavg to Tmax (since record high temperatures are of so much interest), and daily rather than monthly values (although I will also sometimes include monthly results to provide context).Re Posted From: Urban Legends of Climate Chan . . .
